Karin Helga Martha Simmons, 61, of Longview passed away peacefully with both of her daughters in her arms on July 10, 2018.
She was born Nov. 14, 1956, in Burgsponheim, Germany, to Martha Emma (Christian) and Friedrich Witt. She immigrated to the United States as a young adult, and on May 7, 1977, married Thomas Craig Herren. After five years of marriage, Thomas passed away. On July 26, 1986, she was married to James Carney Simmons.
Family was Karin's passion and delight. Her two daughters and grandchildren were the light of her life. Karin is survived by her daughters, Tracy Marie George (Phillip), and Holly Ann Patterson (Andrew); four grandchildren, Emma Rose Cook, Cole Otto George, Kennan James Patterson and Brooke Carleen George; five sisters, Renate Ludke, Ruth Hoffacker, Dorothea Nagel, Margarete Brauer, and Siglinde Schulke; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; her former spouse, James Simmons; and her companion, Roger Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Herren; a son, David James Simmons; her parents, Martha and Friedrich Witt; a sister, Sigrun Teller; a brother, Friedhelm Witt; and her parents-in-law, Betty and Ben Herren, and Lila and Theodore Simmons.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Northwood Park in Ridgefield, Wash.
